Fit-2-Serve seeks to hire 4 high school students (ages 16-18) with a passion for working with their peers and developing youth to serve and learn with us this summer! One of the primary roles will be to mentor 4-8 middle school interns. You will also be assisting in the execution of our summer programming with youth in the community.
Your service dates would be June 1st-July 25th (8 weeks). Hours would be Either Monday, & Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Must have transportation as we work at multiple sites during the day in Mattoon. Pay will be equal to the minimum wage which is set to be $9.25 by start date.
Our Summer Programs you would be assisting with includes:
Generation-2-Generation: An intergenerational service-learning program where the YMCA summer campers will visit senior living facilities in Mattoon to connect with the residents. During each program, we will do crafts and read a story.
Learn-2-Grow: This service-learning program takes place in our community gardens! The YMCA summer campers (grades K-5th grade) come and participate in various gardening activities!
Inspiration Stations: This programming takes place at different low-income housing units in Mattoon. We follow the Salvation Army Food On The Move Truck and after the truck leaves we invite the youth to participate in various STEAM activities led by teachers from the Mattoon School district.
